The cyclist Alberto Contador (Madrid, 1982) has been proclaimed the winner of the 69th edition of the Vuelta a España, an epic conquest that surprised everyone.
Contador suffered a fractured tibia in the last Tour de France and a month later, to everyone's surprise, he announced that he would ride the Vuelta España. He then assured that his intention was only to "compete", but the development of the race took him to a higher place. Specifically, the first place in the drawer.
“I am very happy with this victory. For me it is a dream to get three Vueltas a España. It's something I didn't expect”, said the cyclist after passing the finish line in the last stage.
