The Olympic champion Carolina Marín leads the list of 10 Spanish representatives in the European Badminton Championship that will be held at the Palacio de los Deportes that bears her name in Huelva, from April 24 to 29, as confirmed by the Spanish Federation at the request of BadmintonEurope.
Spain will have 10 players who have achieved their classification through the different procedures established by the highest institution of continental badminton. The classification by the BWF World Ranking as of February 22 allowed the classification of Marín, Beatriz Corrales, Clara Azurmendi, Pablo Abián, Luís Enrique Peñalver and the pairs Lorena Uslé-Elena Fernández and Alberto Zapico-Lorena Uslé.
On her part, the Federation submitted the request for a 'wild card' for Sara Peñalver by virtue of her record as medalists in different sub-17, sub-19 and absolute continental events. 'Badminton Europe' accepted the request and granted the invitation to Peñalver.
In addition, Spain exercised its right to participate in the men's doubles, the only event without direct classification, obtaining the place for the tandem formed by Alberto Zapico and Javier Suárez as the best-ranked couple in the ranking.
